Whiplash Injury Claims
If you have been involved in a car accident or motorcycle accident or any other road accident you may have suffered whiplash.
What is Whiplash
Whiplash is the result of the soft tissue in the spine being stretched and strained after the body is thrown in a sudden, forceful jerk. Whiplash is the injury most commonly asssociated in car crashes involving sudden deceleration, but the injury can also occur in other strenuous physical activities such as diving or rugby collisions.
What does whiplash feel like?
If you are suffering from headaches and stiffness in the neck and the back of the head after your accident then theses are signs of whiplash. The symptoms appear within the first couple of days after the accident and can pass after a few days to a few weeks.
If you have experienced memory loss or periods of unconsciousness after the collision you should contact your doctor immediatly. In more severe cases it has been documented that patients can experience severe pains in the back of the head, pins and needles in the shoulders and arms or notice a sensation of heaviness in the arms.
If you have any of these symptons let us know so that we can fully access your possibilty for a compensation claim against the party responsible for the accident.
Whiplash syndrome
A few people develop continuing symptoms after a whiplash trauma and develop what is known as whiplash syndrome. They suffer continual headaches and pain, reduced movement at the back of the neck, tingling in the arms, lumbar pains, fatigue, sleep disruptions and reduced libido.
Whiplash syndrome is difficult to treat. The essence of the treatment is to prevent any further strain and encourage a quick return to normal everyday activities.
Unfortunately, in a very small number of people who have experienced a severe whiplash injury, symptoms can persist for months or even years before settling and even then there can even be residual long-term neck discomfort.
Who am I claiming from?
In most road traffic accident claims, the insurance company of the person who was at fault pays compensation. Even in the case of an uninsured or 'hit and run' driver it is possible to claim personal injury compensation through the Motor Insurers Bureau, an organisation established to compensate the victims of negligent, uninsured or untraced motorists.
Whether your injury was relatively minor or you received a serious brain or spinal injury, your claim will be allocated to our specialist team. Let our accident compensation solicitors advise you of your rights and the extent of your personal injury compensation claim.
