Delay In Treatment

The positive outcome of dental treatment often is reliant on the timely conduct and timely referrals if necessary. If there is a delay in treatment then there is a chance that a relatively simple condition can become more complicated or harder to treat. It is therefore essential that you receive dental treatment in a reasonable time frame. In some cases, it is imperative that oral health concerns are caught early and not given the chance to develop. Problems may arise where there is an error, or waiting lists are too long, or if there is a shortage of NHS funds.

Dentists are responsible for putting the interests of the patient first. Delay in treatment may happen for several different reasons:

  • Failure to respond to a patient’s concerns, and their preferences regarding treatment
  • Failure to gain consent
  • Failure to be responsive to the patient’s presentation
  • Long waiting lists
  • Delay in referral for scans or other diagnostic methods
  • Administration errors
  • Failure to refer to a hygienist
  • Failure to refer to a specialist e.g. orthodontist or maxillofacial surgeon
  • Delay in referral to Ear, Nose and Throat Department

All of these situations can cause a delay in diagnosis and/or treatment of conditions, leading to prolonged pain or a worsening of the situation, often requiring more extensive and invasive treatment.

If you believe you have suffered as a result of delay in dental treatment, you may be able to claim for Dental Negligence. Contact Us for a free no obligation discussion regarding your situation.

I am writing to you personally to say thank you to Attwood's for a job well done with my recent claims. It initially started out as one claim, but eventually became a little more complicated when another was added following a review of my condition by one of your dental experts. Throughout the last couple of years as the claim has progressed I have been fully supported by your colleague Luke Taylor. I have thanked him personally for all the good work and support he gave me over the last couple of years, it was quite a journey for both of us but with the right outcome, but I just wanted to also highlight to yourself the good service and support he provided me with. It was very much needed and appreciated. He has always been very professional and the advice he has given has always been with real feeling and thought, and not the "just my job" attitude. Even when I was very wary of what to do next, he always explained it in simple terms for me understand and move forward. If I ever need similar help in the future, your company will be the first I contact. With my sincere appreciation and regards.
