Hip Implants Compensation
Hip Implants Compensation
Hip implants have been the subject of controversy, with many patients experiencing serious side effects.
Some doctors believe the cup of metal-on-metal hip implants is too shallow and that this design flaw has led to improper implantations, loosening the hip implant within the body, which may result in the release of potentially dangerous levels of chromium and cobalt ions into the body.
The Food and Drug Administration have received more than 300 complaints inĀ four years about problems with metal-on-metal hip implants, including:
- Loose hip cups
- Hip implant dislocations
- Bone fractures
- Pseudotumours caused by metal debris
- Allergic reactions
- Muscle and tissue damage
Hip implants are expected to last up to 15 years, but many implant patients have reported that their implants are failing after just two or three years, requiring expensive and painful additional surgery to have the implant replaced.
